the truth is

being a mom is h.a.r.d. And that’s an understatement. I’ve spent 26 years trying to figure out how to parent three kids. I’ve made terrible mistakes, I’ve lost my shit, I’ve brewed a stomach ulcer twice out of fear and worry, I’ve battled mental illness in the midst of mothering, I’ve suffered the consequences of unruly mom guilt, and I’ve been an expert at beating myself up internally… among other not so great things. But one thing I’ve come to trust through all the mess is that I was doing my absolute best with what I knew

mommas, doing our best is ENOUGH. As the late and wise Maya Angelou said, “We do the best we can until we know better, and then when we know better, we do better.” THIS is the hope we cling to as we find our way

and this hope is what spurred me on to grow as a mom. To face my fears, overcome my insecurities, build confidence, say NO to mom guilt, make amends with my kids for less than moments and nurture deep connection with them. This hope is what gave me the courage to see motherhood from a new perspective, see my kids and our family circumstances differently—all of which began with seeing myself with a fresh pair of lenses
